This article provides information about the 1099 E-File service.

The 1099 E-File Service makes it easy for small businesses to file 1099s electronically in minutes. With 1099 E-File service you can skip the 1096 (not required when you e-file). Also, with one flat fee per company, you can file unlimited number of forms.

This year, there is QuickBooks Desktop 2011 and 2012 integration that will allow you to import data from QuickBooks. You can print copies of 1099s for vendors and your own records on plain paper, ( no pre-printed forms required.)

How much does 1099 E-file service cost?

1099 e-file pricing per EIN filing company:
 
  • Early Bird pricing for 1099 E-File is through 01/15/2012: $25
    To receive the Early Bird pricing, you submit the e-file on or before 01/15/2012.
  • Regular pricing for 1099 E-File is on or after 01/16/2012: $39 

 

The pricing is for an unlimited number of 1099s per federal EIN.

How do I pay for the 1099 E-File?

Billing or Payment Method for the 1099 E-File is by Credit Card. You will be prompted to enter billing information during the printing and filing process.

Note: Intuit Online Payroll customers can pay for service via ACH (if they are using their checking account to pay for payroll service

What is a 1099-misc form?

The 1099-Misc form is used to report payments made to contractors, such as vendors, contractors, landlords, attorneys, etc.
IRS has specific rules for determining if a worker is an employee or an independent contractor.

For assistance in classifying your workers , visit www.irs.gov and search for Publication 15.

Do I need to file 1099-misc form?

An organization that pays independent contractors must file two forms at the end of each tax year:

  • 1099-MISC: The contractor version of the employee?s W-2. Reports all wages or payments delivered for the entire year. One 1099-MISC form is sent to each contractor who was paid $600 or more during the year.
  • 1096: The single transmittal form the payer sends to the IRS. Reports all payments made to all contractors. For example, if a payer sends out fifteen 1099s for the year, the information from all fifteen 1099-MISC forms is captured onto the single 1096.
Because our customers file electronically, they are not required to file form 1096. For assistance in determining whether you need to file this form , visit www.irs.gov and search for Publication 15.

What Boxes on 1099 misc form are supported by 1099 E-File?

1099 E-File will support Boxes 1 - 14. Boxes 15 - 18 will not be supported.

When can I sign up for 1099 E-File?

You can sign up starting January 1st, 2012 until April 23nd 2012. April 23rd is the last day that you can sign up for the 1099 E-File service.

When can I E-File my 1099 misc form?

You can start using the e-filing on January 1, 2012.

When is the IRS deadline for filing 1099 misc form?

Arpil 2nd is deadline for the IRS to receive e-filed 1099 misc forms. You must click ?submit? by 5 pm PT on 3/29 for the forms to be received timely by the IRS on 04/02/12.

What is the last day to e-file using the Intuit 1099 E-File service?

April 26, 2012 is the last day to e-file with the Intuit 1099 E-File service.

What is the last day for me to view and print copies of 1099 misc form?

You have until April 30, 2012 to view and print copies of your 1099 misc forms.

When is the IRS deadline for Vendors to receive their 1099 misc form?

Vendors must receive copy of their 1099 misc form by January 31, 2012. The deadline date is received date, not postmarked date.

Do I still have to print my 1099s to give to the vendor and where do I get 1099 paper?

E-filing your 1099s does not replace the IRS requirement that you need to print the 1099 to provide to the vendor.  If you are using the 1099 E-File Service, you can print your Vendor 1099 Copies on plain paper.

How do I sign up and file for mulitiple filing companies?

?From the first page once you have logged into the 1099 E-File Service you will see the last company you filed for on the top tool bar. Select the drop down and then the choice "Add another Intuit 1099 E-File Service Subscription.  This will give you a page to begin entering the next company's information. 

Note: Each subscription for each company is a separate fee.
